Traveller with Suitcase – Probably Hand-Coloured Drawing

A humorous figurative study of a distinctive traveller carrying a suitcase, pipe, umbrella and a coat draped over his arm. Based on its appearance, the work is probably a hand-drawn and hand-coloured piece on toned paper.

The work bears difficult-to-read initials and a date that cannot be reliably identified from the available photographs. The artist remains unidentified and the work is offered without expert confirmation of authorship, technique or age.

The drawing is presented under glass with a light mount in a richly ornamented gilt frame. The paper and mount show yellowing and local staining; the frame has abrasions and small losses, more pronounced in the lower right corner. The photographs show the actual condition.
